Overview

About payment gateway integration

Taking a card payment is straightforward. Handling everything around it — failures, retries, refunds, chargebacks, reconciliation, and regional methods — is where the actual work sits.

Local methods affect conversion

Card-only checkouts lose sales in markets where customers expect UPI, iDEAL, Klarna, or wallets. Method availability is frequently a larger conversion factor than checkout design in those markets, and it is a cheap fix.

Webhooks are the source of truth

Payment state changes asynchronously — captures, disputes, refunds, subscription events. Systems that rely on the browser redirect to confirm payment produce mismatched orders. We implement webhook handling with idempotency and retries so records stay correct.

Reconciliation prevents silent errors

Gateway records, order records, and accounting must agree. We build reconciliation so mismatches surface as alerts rather than being discovered at month end.

  1. 1

    Discovery & scoping

We map requirements, users, integrations, and constraints, then agree scope and a fixed quote before work starts.

  2. 2

    Architecture & design

Technical architecture and user flows are agreed and prototyped before implementation begins.

  3. 3

    Build & review

Development in reviewable increments, with a staging environment you can see and comment on throughout.

  4. 4

    Launch & support

Performance and security checks, documented handover, deployment, and an agreed support window after go-live.

Why iDream

We treat webhooks as the source of truth and build reconciliation in, so payment records do not silently diverge.

FAQ

Common questions

Which gateway should we use?
Stripe for most international businesses — excellent APIs and broad method support. Razorpay or similar where local methods and settlement matter more. Frequently the answer is more than one, routed by market.
Do you store card details?
No, and neither should you. Card data goes directly to the gateway via tokenisation, which keeps sensitive data out of your systems and your PCI scope minimal. We would decline to build anything that stored raw card numbers.
